Privacy Policy

Trove is a clipboard manager. Your clipboard often holds sensitive information, so Trove is built to keep it private: your history is stored on your devices and encrypted end to end whenever it syncs.

What stays on your device

Your clipboard history (text, links, images, pinboards) and your settings are stored on your devices, in storage shared only with Trove's own extensions (keyboard, widgets, share extension).

On Mac, Trove reads the clipboard to build your history. It skips items that password managers mark as private, and any apps you exclude in Settings. On iPhone and iPad, Trove reads the clipboard only when you tap the Paste button or use the keyboard's "Save Clipboard" button.

Sync and end-to-end encryption

When you turn on sync, each item is encrypted on your device with AES-256-GCM before it is uploaded. The encryption key is stored in your iCloud Keychain and is shared only between your own devices. Nobody without the key can read your synced history, including Apple, us, or a server operator.

If you subscribe to Trove Cloud, Apple processes the payment. We receive only the transaction information Apple provides to confirm your subscription. We never see your payment details.

Pairing devices

When you pair a new device, your encryption key is sent to it encrypted, through your chosen sync service, and deleted from the service once delivered. Trove Cloud and self-hosted servers also delete unclaimed pairing messages after one hour.

What we don't do

Deleting your data

Exports

History exports are not encrypted. Store them somewhere private.

Children

Trove is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information.
